Cristiano Ronaldo’s last goal in the Whites 5-1 thrashing against Real Sociedad was scored off a precise free-kick. A set piece expert, the Portuguese forward is the player who has netted the most free-kick goals over the last five seasons, his 15 free-kick goals beating out Messi (eight) and Beñat (six) to top the classification.

Cristiano Ronaldo netted his first free-kick goal in Spain’s La Liga on 21 February 2010 during a home game against Villarreal and has scored off these set pieces every season since. Villarreal and Real Sociedad are his favourite victims and the striker has scored three free-kick goals against each. His free-kick expertise isn’t limited to La Liga: with six free-kick goals over the last five seasons Cristiano Ronaldo also tops the classification in the Champions League, beating out Hulk, Messi, Srna and Kolaroy (two goals each)
