Real Madrid wins the their first three League matches for the eighteenth time in history

The win against Athletic in the last league match day earned Real Madrid maximum points in the three games played so far.  Carlo Ancelotti's career with Real Madrid has gotten off to a perfect start, equalling other good season openings in the club's history. Counting the recent victories against Betis, Granada and Athletic, Real Madrid has kicked off La Liga winning the first three matches a total of 18 times.

The first time the Whites began La Liga with three consecutive wins was in the 1928/29 season, when the competition first began. On that occasion, Real Madrid's rivals were El Europa, Barcelona and Atletico de Madrid. They've repeated this feat 17 times since then, most often in the 1960s.
